About Shantinikethan
Shantinikethan is a charitable foundation formed in the Year 2020 to fund Vanjarkatte School, situated in Bola village, Karkala. Bola, a quiet and a lush green village surrounded by rice fields, coconut plantations and rubber estates sandwiched between heritage places of Karkala.
This serene and scenic location makes it a perfect place for learning. VEMS is a private coeducational school affliated to the Karnataka State Board. The school offers a unique curriculum with co-curricular activities and activity based learning. Student and staff facilities are simple yet well maintained.
About Us
Our Journey
Engagement with School Activity commenced in the Year 2016, when Vanjarakatte School was on the verge of closure due to low student numbers. Substandard infrastructure, lack of teachers and poor access were some reasons people avoided sending their children to the school.
Akshay Adyanthaya whose roots are in karkala took charge of the school. Shantinikethan Charitable Foundation was established in 2020 to fund the Development Activities of the School. Numerous reforms have been initiated for the betterment of the school & its students. Vanjarakatte School was then converted to English Medium from Kannada Medium and is now VEMS. No extra fees were levied on those students who were upgraded to English Medium. The school follows a marginally lower Fees Structure so that no student is deprived of education due to poverty.
Earlier Kannada Medium Education was available from 1st – 7th Grade Only.
Now, under the new Management, the school is equipped with English Medium Instruction from Pre-Primary to Class 10th. All existing Teachers were Proffessionally trained and redeployed to the new setup. Transportation Facility is also provided at the lowest cost. Shantinikethan Charitable Foundation looks after the overall development of the School & Students.
